Estepona’s Old Town is a true ‘Pueblo Blanco’ of Andalusia. Think cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, colourful pots of flowers and orange groves, and quaint tapas bars and restaurants spilling out into shaded squares.
It may be popular with tourists, with a sandy beach and lots of amenities right on the doorstep. But it’s never overly busy and has a wonderful small village feel.

Named after the original ‘Golden Mile’ in Marbella, this district is renowned for luxury and home to some of the best, most impressive real estate in Estepona.
It’s a stunning stretch of the coastline, which runs towards San Pedro de Alcántara – connecting Estepona to all the amenities of Puerto Banús and Marbella. Yet residents have privileged access to the beautiful natural surroundings, including quiet sandy beaches and lush green valleys.
What sort of properties are available in this area?
In keeping with the local area, properties for sale in the New Golden Mile are big on luxury.
They range from traditional villas set on large plots of land to contemporary apartment complexes, such as El Presidente. But either way, they’re all finished to the highest standard and tend to have an enviable frontline location – never more than a few steps away from the beach.
Known for its golf valleys
Like to tee off in the sunshine? A property in this area could be perfect. Occupying the hills north of the coast road, El Paraíso is one of Estepona’s finest residential addresses and home to El Paraíso Golf Club – one of the best championship courses on the Costa del Sol.
The urbanisation is split into three zones – Paraíso Alto, Paraíso Medio and Paraíso Barronal – which extend from the mountains down to the beachfront. All of which are attractively laid out, immaculately kept and blessed with a peaceful atmosphere.

El Paraíso is typified by tree-lined streets, home to a range of exclusive townhouses, villas and apartment complexes – some of the best including Paraíso Green, Diana Park and Azure Villas.

Equidistant from the centre of Estepona and El Paraíso, Cancelada is an increasingly popular option for those looking to relocate. Mainly, because it’s an oasis in the midst of the Costa del Sol.
The village itself is authentically Spanish; slow-paced, with a stunning village square, delicious Andalusian eateries and a tranquil atmosphere. Yet all the amenities of the Marbella area – including golf courses, spas, shops, schools, health centres and leisure facilities – are within touching distance.
It offers the best of both worlds and is the perfect base for an expat.
What properties are available in Cancelada?
Apartments and townhouses are particularly common in this area. Some are traditional, with terracotta exteriors and Juliet balconies. But Cancelada has been the focus of several new developments over the last few years, and lots of modern, luxurious properties are now available.
Either way, the buildings tend to be low-rise – ensuring the spectacular views are unspoiled – and many are set in private urbanisations, with a range of 5* facilities.
Known for leisure activities
Nestled into the foothills of Sierra Bermeja, Selwo is a beautiful residential area in a privileged position – surrounded by green areas and untouched nature, yet within easy reach of Estepona Old Town, San Pedro de Alcántara and Puerto Banús.
There are plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and golf courses in the area. But it’s best known for ‘Selwo Aventura’ – a unique safari park, which gives its name to the district and is a great day out for children. Perfect for young families, or just when the grandchildren come to stay!
What type of properties can be found in Selwo?
Numerous residential developments have now been built into the hills and countryside around Selwo Aventura. These mainly include apartments and penthouses. However, some detached villas – with a classic Andalusian style – are also available.
Properties in Selwo Estepona typically take advantage of their elevated position, offering sweeping sea and country views – and everything you could possibly need is within a 5-10 minute drive.
